After the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great, the city of Alexandria was founded at the mouth of the Nile River. In addition to native people, immigrants from Greece were brought there. The collision of two Egyptian and Greek cultures made this newly founded city a center of scientific, commercial activities and a place of trade and transactions of that time, and the value of gold and silver increased in foreign and domestic trade.
